BIOGRAPHY

Abdulsudi Issa-Zacharia, was born in Bukoba, The United Republic of Tanzania, currently is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Food Science and Agro-processing, School of Engineering and Technology, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).

He obtained the Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Food Science and Technology in 2003 with First Class Honor. During his undergraduate studies at SUA, he excelled and received awards as the overall best student and consequently was awarded a JASSO scholarship to Kagoshima University as an exchange student for one year. He obtained his M.Sc. in Food Technology with great honour/distinction (magna cum laude) from the the Department of Food Safety and Food Quality, Facultly of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University in 2006. He was later awarded with a MOMBUKAGAKUSHO scholarship and consequently in 2011 obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree on the Efficacy of Slightly Acidic Electrolyzed Water as a Novel Non-thermal Sanitizer for microbiological food safety control.

He is an author of 10 publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals, co-author of 11 publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals, more than 10 abstracts and poster presentations in scientific conferences. He has given 2 oral presentations at international scientific conferences and several oral presentations at a national scientific conference and at international scientific conference. Abdulsudi has extensive knowledge in Food Processing, Food Security and Food Safety, with 16 years experience in the field. At the University he is involved in teaching both graduate and undergraduate programs; supervising undergraduate research projects, masters and PhD theses; research, outreach and consultancy activities. He offers courses related to Food Technology & Processing, Food Security and Food Safety including, Introduction on Food science and Technology, Food analysis and Instrumentation, Food Microbiology,Technology of Meat and Fish products.
